JBD Monitor: technical specifications

Everything about the box, its software and the free Cloud, on one page, for your JBD battery.

  • 1.8"colour screen
  • < 0.5 WUSB-C 5 V
  • 2.4 GHzWi-Fi
  • RJ45RS485
  • Read-onlynever writes
  • 2 yearswarranty

JBD boards sit inside DIY packs of every size and inside a number of ready-made batteries. Once the case is closed, the BMS is the only thing that knows how the cells are doing. The box keeps that knowledge in view: it stays connected over RS485 and records a history, where the Bluetooth app only shows the present moment, and only when you are nearby.

JBD sells many boards. This edition reads those with an RS485 port, those fitted with the JBD RS485 module, and the UP16S inverter BMS. Tell us your board reference and cell count when you order, and we test that combination before shipping.

Your appliances run on the sun, by themselves

JBD Monitor tells Home Assistant when the battery fills up and when it runs low. Four simple rules, and the washing machine, the water heater and the car use your sun instead of the grid. Watch a day:

Simulation of a sunny day for a house with 5 kWp of panels, a 10 kWh battery, a car that needs 10 kWh and a water heater. The energy delivered to each appliance is the same in both scenarios; only the timing changes. Your figures depend on your system, your tariff and the weather.

    Technical questions

    Does it need Ethernet?

No. The box connects over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. The RJ45 socket is for the cable to your equipment, not for a network.

Can it run on a power bank or a 12 V system?

Yes, with any USB-C source: a power bank, a car-style 12 V to USB adapter or a phone charger. It draws under 0.5 W.

How far can the box be from the Wi-Fi router?

As far as a phone still gets a good 2.4 GHz signal. If the spot is weak, a simple Wi-Fi repeater does the job.

    Does it get firmware updates?

Yes. A new version installs from the box’s Update page in a few clicks, and your settings are kept.
