Cable in the RS485 port, USB-C in a charger. The box starts.
The screen shows the name of its setup Wi-Fi. Join it from your phone: the setup page opens on its own.
Pick your 2.4 GHz network, type its password and choose a password for the box. Save and restart.
Your values are on the screen and on your phone. About a minute, start to finish.
Simulation. The texts of the box are the real ones, in English as on the box.
Any phone charger near the equipment, or a USB port. The box uses under 0.5 W.
Your usual home Wi-Fi: almost every router broadcasts 2.4 GHz. Internet is not even required at home.
For the one-minute setup through the box’s own Wi-Fi. No app, any browser.
No tools, no PC, no driver, no setting to change on the battery. Your box arrives prepared for your JBD model.
The box’s screen tells you where it stands. Find your case below.
The USB-C charger or cable is the usual suspect: try another one, or a computer’s USB port. The box needs very little, under 0.5 W.
The box is waiting for your home network. Join the MoniWatt-Setup-… Wi-Fi it shows; if the page does not open, type http://192.168.4.1 in the browser.
The box only sees 2.4 GHz networks. Most routers broadcast both: pick the 2.4 GHz one, or type its name in “Or type its name”.
Check that the cable is in the RS485 port of the battery, firmly clicked in. With several batteries, use the port given in the steps below.
Some phones do not resolve .local names. Type the address shown at the bottom of the screen instead, for example http://192.168.1.57.
Write to [email protected] with a photo of the screen and of the port: a person answers.
JBD boards come with different communication options: Bluetooth, a UART connector, an RS485 port, sometimes CAN. JBD Monitor uses RS485. If your board only has the UART connector, JBD sells an RS485 module that plugs into it; if you are not sure, write to us with a photo before ordering.
On boards and batteries with an RJ45 RS485 socket, use it directly. On SP boards with the RS485 module, connect the module to the BMS as JBD intends and plug the box into the module. If the Bluetooth module sits on the same connector, tell us: we check your setup before shipping.
Plug the supplied cable into the box, then power the box from a USB charger. The screen turns on.
Never connect the box to the balance leads or the pack terminals. Communication port only.
Join the box’s setup Wi-Fi from your phone, choose your home network and set a password.
Open http://moniwatt.local. Cells and pack values appear within seconds. Compare one cell voltage with the JBD app to be sure everything matches.
JBD Monitor tells Home Assistant when the battery fills up and when it runs low. Four simple rules, and the washing machine, the water heater and the car use your sun instead of the grid. Watch a day:
Your solar production
Your consumption
Automations
Logbook
Simulation of a sunny day for a house with 5 kWp of panels, a 10 kWh battery, a car that needs 10 kWh and a water heater. The energy delivered to each appliance is the same in both scenarios; only the timing changes. Your figures depend on your system, your tariff and the weather.
Order JBD Monitor, shipped on 10 November 2026 and tested on a JBD smart BMS before it leaves.
